Having worked within the walls of the public schools as a high school and middle school math teacher, I can totally identify with what is written in this book. Read it for free at Underground History of American Education. And another book you might want to read, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America , is available here as a free pdf download.

I accept this award on behalf of all the fine teachers I've known over the years who've struggled to make their transactions with children honorable ones, men and women who are never complacent, always questioning, always wrestling to define and redefine endlessly what the word "education" should mean.
